Dear diary, there has to be some psychological effect of not having a teenage love. Little me would be so disappointed, because it definitely is NOT like the movies.
Since forever, I fantasized about having a “boyfriend” or someone I could be with. It seems dreamy having someone you can love and kiss on and do romantic shit with. Tbh, I thought I’d have a boyfriend by now, just ask 8-year-old me.
It sucks not being looked at romantically or how about this—approached! All of my friends have had attention from guys, and it kind of hurts that I’ve never experienced that. No guy has ever tried talking to me, asking for my number, looked at me from across the room (you know, how they do in movies.)
The only real love I’ve seen was in movies, which probably gave me an unrealistic view on love—but STILL! There are countless times where I’d have a crush but never act on it, and my friends know this. It’s because I know, deep down that it will never happen.
A lot of people say “Oh, trust me you don’t want a relationship,”, “It’ll come when you least expect it, don’t worry”. Respectfully, f that. There’s a difference between platonic love and romantic love; and I’m yearning for the romantic kind.
When is it going to be my turn?
- With love ๐
